Verastream Integration Broker 9.8 Patch 9 Information
Technical Note 40035
Last Reviewed 15-Mar-2007
Applies To
Verastream Integration Broker version 9.8
Summary

Verastream Integration Broker 9.8 Patch 9 contains product updates. This technical note lists the changes made to the product.

This document is organized into the following sections:

Note: Changes in version 9.8 patch 9 and earlier are also included in version 9.9. For more information on version 9.9, see Technical Note 10071.

Changes in This Update

Changes in Patch 9 and Higher

Issue 284826: Added option WAIT_FOR_RECORD_LOCK=[yes|no], default no

Issue 284932: Added table and database option LIMIT=n, default n=0 (no limit)

Added database option ISOLATION=[SERIALIZABLE|COMMITTED], with default COMMITTED.

The option is used when a transaction starts using

BEGIN WORK ISOLATION LEVEL READ COMMITTED

-or-

BEGIN WORK ISOLATION LEVEL SERIALIZABLE

Changes in Patch 8 and Higher

Issue 283691: Added support for PostgreSQL database adapter for HP-UX 11, 64-bit on PA-RISC.

Changes in Patch 7 and Higher

Issue 283467: Added support for Oracle version 9i release 2. (Oracle 9i adapter linked for release 1 does not work with Oracle 9i release 2.)

Changes in Patch 6 and Higher

Issue 280671: The WAIT/DIALOG STACKED and CLOSE DIALOG did not function correctly in CGUI.

Changes in Patch 5 and Higher

Issue 281669: Added Oracle 10g database support on the HP Tru64 UNIX platform (in addition to other platforms supported in shipping version 9.8).

Issue 280672: Limited support for old configuration files.

Usage:

nova -ereadcfg sysedit item=... file=...
nova -ewritecfg sysedit item=... file=...

Where:

Values for item= are: color, font, printer, terminal.

The file=... parameter is optional. If not specified, the file name will be <item>.cfg in the current directory.

Notes:

  • The syntax used in color.cfg is not compatible with the syntax used in version 8.0. This is because the underlying data structure of colors has changed; you can now specify colors per platform.
  • In very old printer configuration files, you could encounter a FONTS { ... } clause for printer categories. To read these files, you must manually remove these FONTS clauses. Support for printer-specific fonts was dropped in VIB 5.0.
  • Export of item "system" is not supported. You can only export settings for one item at the time.
  • You cannot import a file that contains different items. For example, fonts and colors in the same file. To read these files, you must manually split them into two files and import each with the correct "item=" parameter.
  • Syntax errors in cfg files are no longer written to .err files, but will appear on the standard error stream. To place the errors in a file, use the NVNOCONFIRM parameter. For example:
nova -ereadfgl sysedit item=font +NVNOCONFIRM=font.err

Changes in Patch 4 and Higher

Issue 281668: Added support for Oracle version 8i. The Oracle 8i adapter was re-introduced.

Changes in Patch 3 and Higher

Issue 280676: Terminal type 'linux' was corrected. It was missing a few (less essential) function key definitions, including Tab.

Issue 280674: German characters like ß were not recognized in Java VM versions greater than 1.3.1

Issue 280673: EDITs were too small on Windows. Added flag EDIT_COMPATIBILITY to restore COMPATIBILITY=7 regarding the size of EDITS. This compatability code had been removed; it has been restored.

Issue 281593: Starting with Java 1.4, the Tab key functioned differently. The newer Java intercepts the Tab by default; this causes the Tab key to not be accessible to VIB, when it attempts to handle the tabbing and setting focus. Calling the right method restores the old behavior. Method is available for Java 1.4 and later.

Changes in Patch 2 and Higher

Issue 280676: Terminal type 'linux' was corrected. It did not load correctly; a few key definitions were missing.

Issue 280677: Color definition REPHEADFIELD_FG was missing. It was added with definition "RGB 0,0,128".

Issue 280533: Language special characters were not handled properly on terminals. For example, German ü or ß.

Changes in Patch 1 and Higher

Added support for C-Isam. Support files to generate the shared library for the C-Isam adapter were added. Only applicable on Redhat Enterprise Linux versions 3.0 and 4.0 (kernel versions 2.4.21 and 2.6.9).
