This technical note lists the product enhancements in Reflection for the Web 2008 R2, as well as those originally included in R1.
Reflection for the Web 2008 R2 includes the following new features:
You can now specify a page template for dynamic embedded sessions. The custom page template allows you to format the HTML to add custom text, graphics, or JavaScript for the session.
For more information, see Technical Note 2386.
You can create your own login/links list page and store it separately from the installed default. The page can have any custom content desired, including graphics, links, or JavaScript.
For more information, see Technical Note 2386.
You can set the type of applet tag to generate for web-based Reflection sessions and applets that appear in the Administrative WebStation. This configuration option supports Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) requirements. Applets configured to use the OBJECT/EMBED tag will always launch using the Java Plug-in; you can specify the URL for the OBJECT codebase and the EMBED pluginspage. This is the new default. Customers who have not deployed the Plug-in or want users to continue using the Microsoft JVM should change this setting to use the APPLET tag. Applets configured to use the APPLET tag will launch using the Java VM that is configured for the APPLET tag.
INFOConnect sessions can be configured and launched from the Reflection for the Web server. This lets you centrally manage and deploy INFOConnect settings files. You can connect INFOConnect sessions through the Reflection Security Proxy.
You can set up a password so that users are not prompted for an SSH password when starting the session. You can specify what action to take when the SSH server requests a password for password authentication: prompt the client for a password, or send a public shared password. When you choose to send a public shared password, you can specify the password or leave the option blank to send a blank password.
A new command allows you to force the macro recorder to create a new playback action at a specific point within a macro. This gives you more control in assigning macro actions that should be embedded or prompted for during playback.
You can now use an applet parameter to send environment variables to an SSH server when the SSH or SFTP session is run.
Reflection for the Web 2008 R1 includes the following features:
Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Unisys Edition, Airlines Edition, and Airlines Edition with Printing are available.
Note that the documentation for all editions is the same; some of the documented features may not be available in your edition. For more information about these new editions, see Technical Note 2321.
Within UTS and ALC emulations and in Airlines Printer, airlines transports using protocols such as MATIP, Airlines Gateway, SABRE IP, Lantern, Apollo, SHARES, and PEPGate are available.
Users can make local copies of sessions and customize them, sort them, and group them according to their own preferences.
Most emulation types can be configured for a fixed font size independent of window size scaling. Other changes have been made to improve the display of text in emulation sessions.
Copy Table support is available, and IBM emulators now support masking of protected fields when pasting. New Edit menu commands are available, and the behavior of some copy operations is configurable.
You can now save, review, and re-execute IND$FILE transfer requests.
You can map a mouse click to launch a browser session based on URL string (such as http://www.attachmate.com) within the terminal window.
Support for picking from a color range for cursor color, ruler color, and all terminal screen elements (applies to all emulations except T27).
The macro recorder can be configured to save a usable screen description for each step of the macro, allowing the macro to identify host screens more accurately during playback.
You can select a crosshair, horizontal or vertical ruler.
You can play back macros you have recorded in other sessions of the same terminal type.
The terminal display is now readable by screen readers such as JAWS. For more information about the JAWS accessibility features, see Technical Note 2333.
Ease of management for customers using intermediate certificates.
