EXTRA! X-treme version 9.0 SP1
Summary

If EXTRA! is installed on a machine with INFOConnect, you may receive an error when attempting to apply EXTRA! 9.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1). This technical note contains information to help you troubleshoot the error.

Symptom

If EXTRA! is installed on a machine with INFOConnect, you may receive the following error when attempting to apply EXTRA! 9.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1):

The patch was unsuccessful. It returned error number: 1603

Explanation

This error message may occur if you have installed INFOConnect Enterprise Edition version 8.1 with the EXTRA! for Accessory Manager component (IBM and Open Systems installation access code) after EXTRA! X-treme 9.0 was installed.

Solution

If you require connectivity to Unisys (UTS/T27) hosts as well as IBM, UNIX, or OpenVMS hosts, see Technical Note 2260 for recommended alternatives. EXTRA! X-treme should not be installed on a system where INFOConnect has been installed with EXTRA! for Accessory Manager.

Workaround

Although not recommended, you may apply EXTRA! 9.0 SP1 by running an msiexec command to install the *.msp file (without any /qn or /q parameter switch).
