The Reflection NFS Client 13.0.6 minor upgrade file is available to maintained users who already have Reflection NFS Client version 13.0 installed. This technical note provides links to the Reflection NFS Client 13.0.6 minor upgrade files, installation instructions, and a list of fixes originally included in 13.0.1--the 13.0.1 updates are the most recent for the NFS Client. (No Reflection 13.0.3 minor upgrade files were released.)
If you installed the NFS Client from a CD or product installation that includes other Reflection products, it is listed as "Reflection NFS Client" in the Windows Add/Remove Programs panel. The correct upgrade file for you is NL1304.exe.
If you purchased the NFS Client without other Reflection products, it is listed as "Reflection products NFS client (full product)" in the Windows Add/Remove Programs panel. The full product version of the NFS Client installer includes the Reflection FTP Client and some additional utilities. The correct upgrade file for you is rnfsb-13.0.6-prod-w32.exe.
The Reflection NFS minor upgrade files are each compressed into a self-extracting archive file that will automatically run Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) and upgrade or install a workstation or administrative installation.
Important note: Starting with version 13.x of Reflection NFS Client, when upgrading, you must uninstall the NFS Client before installing the new version. For more information about upgrading, see Technical Note 1846.
There were no new features or updates to the Reflection NFS Client in version 13.0.6. The 13.0.1 updates (listed below) are the most recent for the NFS Client.
The following FTP Client updates are provided for users who have installed the full product version of the NFS Client. If you installed the NFS Client from a Reflection CD, you can update the FTP Client when you patch your other Reflection application(s).
You can now disconnect from the server (the preferred way to terminate network connections) or close the client when connected to a site that is configured to use SSL/TLS. When you close a connected session, the client now disconnects the SSL/TLS-secured FTP connection before shutting down.
There were no new features or updates to the Reflection NFS Client in version 13.0.5.
New Features in Reflection FTP 13.0.5:
By default, Reflection computes and pre-allocates the number of tracks on MVS system based on the local file size. Clear this setting to disable this feature. This setting applies to uploads to MVS hosts only.
Use this setting to specify a SITE command to be executed before a file is uploaded. This is supported for uploads to any host.
Resolved issue in Reflection FTP 13.0.5:
There were no new features or updates to the Reflection NFS Client in version 13.0.4. The 13.0.1 updates are the most recent for the NFS Client.
There were no new features or updates to the Reflection NFS Client in version 13.0.2.
The following FTP Client updates are provided for users who have installed the full product version of the NFS Client. If you installed the NFS Client from a Reflection CD, you can update the FTP Client when you patch your other Reflection application(s).
Folder icons now display correctly. This problem was seen when the Reflection FTP Client was installed on a Citrix server running Windows 2003 and the server C drive had been remapped using the Citrix DriveRemap utility.
This patch fixes a problem that caused the FTP Client to disappear when attempting a directory listing involving a large number of files. This problem was reported for connections to MVS and OpenVMS hosts.
The following issues are resolved in the Reflection NFS Client version 13.0.1:
The Reflection NFS Client Print Provider is now disabled upon installation. In previous versions of the NFS Client, the Print Provider was enabled.
To enable the Print Provider, open the NFS Settings dialog box (NFS Utility > View Settings). Navigate to the NFS Other tab and select Enable NFS printing. You will need to reboot your PC for this change to take effect.
The 13.0 release of the Reflection NFS Client has a defect whereby the "net use" command displays multiple instances of the same mapped drive. This has been corrected in 13.0.1.
A dialog indicating that the Reflection NFS Client could not change your NIS password was displayed in spite of the fact that the password was changed. This has been corrected in 13.0.1.
In version 13.0, if LDAP was used as the authentication method, only the primary group id (GID) was obtained from the LDAP repository. Starting with version 13.0.1, the repository is now searched for "posixGroup" type objects and auxilliary GIDs are gathered for the logged-in user.
In Reflection NFS 13.0, changes to the primary logon dialog precluded using "anonymous" as a logon option. This has been corrected in the 13.0.1 release.
The following new features and fixes are included in Reflection FTP Client version 13.0.1:
New features:
The Reflection FTP client supports a new firewall style named "FirewallUser@FtpServer." To configure this style, open the Site Properties dialog box, click Security, then select this style in the drop-down list on the Firewall tab. This new style uses the following authentication command sequence:
OPEN <proxy_server>
USER <firewall_username>@<FTP_server>
PASS <firewall_password>
USER <FTP_server_username>
PASS <FTP_server_password>
Updates:
The following FTP Client updates are provided for users who have installed the full product version of the NFS Client. If you installed the NFS Client from a Reflection CD, you can update the FTP Client when you patch your other Reflection application(s).
The FTP Client no longer saves the firewall password if the firewall`s Save Password setting is not set. This led to error messages saying, "421-Access denied - wrong user name or password" when Reflection was configured to connect through a firewall using one-time-password tokens for firewall authentication.
You can now successfully view directories that include files with a Last Access Time of 0. Prior to this patch, attempts to view these files failed with an error message that read, "The parameter is incorrect." After this error message was displayed it was not possible to navigate to other local folders without first exiting and restarting the Client.
You now need to enter your password prompt only once when you have configured the FTP Client to connect through a SOCKS 5 proxy server.
