After Upgrading to Windows XP, Reflection NFS Client version 9.0, 9.0.1, or 9.0.2 no longer functions and you are unable to uninstall the Reflection NFS Client. This technical note explains the cause of this problem, and provides steps to resolve this issue.
Reflection NFS Client versions 9.0.2 or earlier are incompatible with Windows XP. If you are planning to upgrade a workstation running Reflection NFS Client to Windows XP, you must uninstall versions of Reflection NFS Client prior to version 9.0.3 before upgrading. We strongly suggest that you uninstall all versions of Reflection NFS Client before upgrading to Windows XP. Once the upgrade is complete, install Reflection NFS Client version12.0 or higher (which provides Windows XP support).
For further details regarding Reflection NFS Client and Windows XP, see Technical Note 1591.
If Reflection NFS Client version 9.0, 9.0.1, or 9.0.2 was installed on the machine prior to the Windows XP upgrade, the NFS client will not function (and in some rare cases, Windows XP may fail to not load.) At this point, you will also be unable to uninstall the NFS client. To resolve this problem, see the Solution section below.
After upgrading to Windows XP with Reflection NFS Client 9.0-9.0.2 installed, you will encounter the following NFS problems:
To resolve this problem, obtain and apply patch NFSclearXP.exe, uninstall Reflection NFS Client (version 9.0, 9.0.1, or 9.0.2), restart Windows, and then install Reflection NFS Client 12.0 or higher.
Note: While applying this patch, you must have access to the original source media: either the product CD-ROM (Reflection NFS Client, or Reflection Suite for X) or the administrative installation point. If you do not have access to the source media, you will not be able to apply the patch.
Note: Ignore the "An Administrative installation on a server (browse to *.msi)" feature(it is not applicable to this update.
