Summary

HiT Software ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) LITE drivers enable you to query a database on an IBM AS/400 or IBM mainframe computer. This technical note describes how to access HiT ODBC LITE drivers that are available to certain Reflection customers (depending on your product, version, and maintenance status).

ODBC Drivers Provided with Reflection

Reflection for IBM provides read-only ODBC drivers from HiT Software:

  • The HiT ODBC/400 LITE driver is designed to extract data from an AS/400 database.
  • The HiT ODBC/DB2 LITE driver is designed to extract data from a mainframe database.

Due to contractual restrictions, the driver versions and availability depend on which Reflection for IBM (or suite) product version you are using. Note: Drivers are no longer included with version 14.0.5 (see below).

HiT Driver Continuity Agreement

Due to contractual restrictions, effective 12-Sep-2008, HiT drivers are not available to new customers of version 14.x. However, if you obtained a version 14.x release as an upgrade to a prior version, the paragraph below includes permissions to continue using the HiT drivers you previously received, and also to increase your HiT driver licensed deployment count through 31-Dec-2009.

THIS PARAGRAPH IS A LEGAL AGREEMENT (“Agreement”) BETWEEN ATTACHMATE CORPORATION (“Licensor”) AND YOU (REPRESENTING A PERSON OR ENTITY). BY EXERCISING ANY OF THE PERMISSIONS GRANTED HEREIN, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT. PLEASE RETAIN THIS DOCUMENT WITH YOUR LICENSING RECORDS. If you have received any Reflection for IBM version 14 product at point-version 14.0.5 or higher as an upgrade (the “Upgrade Version”) from a Reflection for IBM product at version 14 or lower that includes a HiT driver component, then (i) notwithstanding any terms to the contrary in the software license agreement (“SLA”) accompanying the Upgrade Version, you may continue to use the HiT driver software with the Upgrade Version, and subject to the SLA, as if the HiT driver software had been delivered with the Upgrade Version and (ii) if you acquire additional licensed unit count for the Upgrade Version at any time before 1 January 2010 (the “Freeze Date”), you may correspondingly increase your deployed HiT driver count. The permissions granted in this Agreement will apply to each subsequent Reflection 14 point release you receive as an upgrade prior to the Freeze Date. As of the Freeze Date, you may continue using your then-licensed HiT driver software, at your then-licensed unit count, and subject to the applicable SLA. You may NOT use the Reflection version 14 (or earlier) HiT driver software with successor Reflection products such as Reflection for IBM 2007 or Reflection for IBM 2008. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE to the terms of this Agreement, then you may not exercise any of its permissions, and you must comply with SLA terms requiring removal of the HiT driver software when you deploy the Upgrade Version.
