Symptoms

Unable to obtain a device/station name from ID manager when configured for "Get ID From: User Name" option is selected.

Error: ID Manager Failure.  Application Window - Unknown  ICS Component - TCP-A Interface  Error Number - TCPA32 -S-45

Error: event.error.allocate: Request from "IP address" failed. No IDs: Your request for an ID failed because this pool does not contain any IDs of the requested type.

Fix

When configuring the EXTRA! or INFOConnect 8 client for use with the ID Manager User Name Option, the entire LDAP DN (Distinguished Name) attributes must be entered in front of the actual User Name. The User Name field must match exactly what ID Manager pulled from the Directory Server in order to create the User Name pool. i.g. /dc=com/dc=attachmate/dc=mcs/ou=attachmatewrq/ou=technical support/cn=John Doe.

When configuring ID Manager on the MCS server for the User Name option. MCS pulls the full DN (Distinguished Name) from the Active Directory or LDAP accessible server to create an ID Manager User Name a.k.a. Pool Name. It is this entire User Name that must be entered in the EXTRA! or INFOConnect 8 ID Manager configuration for the User Name. If the name does not match exactly, ID Manager can not allocate the ID a.k.a. device/station name to the client.
