Symptoms

Cannot start a Remote Control session on port 2000


Error: "Startup of the HTTP Listener subsystem failed with error code 0x00002740" in Windows Event Viewer.


Error: "Could not start the RemotelyAnywhere Service service on Local Computer.


Error 10048: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted

Goal

How to change the default listening port of Remotely Anywhere 5 ?

Cause

The default port 2000 that RA 5 is listening to is already in use by another application.

Fix

Uninstall or change the port used by the other application.
Note: The port 2000 is used by Attachmate Runtime Service for Screens, which is part of the Smart Connectors.
Change the default port for Remotely Anywhere HTTP Listener:
In a CMD prompt from NWIZARD\RCONTR32\TUPES type the command
remotelyanywhere install -port 2001

Replace "-port 2001" by the port you wich to use
